Vide game designers are the ones that help design the game. They are the ones that come up with the ideas for games and create the models for characters monsters and areas. They are versed in programing languages such as C/C+ and Java to program games. They create the environment for the game and the astomsphere that gives the game it's character.

They start making the modles through polygons and make the basic shapes. Depending on the type of game they may soften the egdes to make it appear more smooth or leave it blocky. They also make UV maps of models to color the object to what they want instead of the standard grey.

Mutiple video game designers work on major products at once. Each works on a section of the project to help fasten the pace of creating the game.

Most game development work is done on a computer, with a keyboard. For artists, they often use a graphics tablet and draw digitally. With the rise of virtual reality (VR), which requires more physical movement, this is causing more VR developers to stand up and spend time experiencing the spaces they're creating. Also, a subset of the game industry is "motion capture" artists, people who wear special suits to capture their actions which are then translated into the video game. Motion capture is a very physical job.
